Puzzlemania

I had two great friends give me puzzles on Jake's birthday. Thanks a million Liz and Melissa...but know not what you do. I'm obsessed. Finished my Mickey, finished the "Can You Find It" and now I'm on to the hardest one ever...there is no picture to follow, just find pieces that go together. I love it. The more puzzles the deeper the piles of dirt at my house, but they'll be there when I'm done!!

Less talk, more rock...

I (Travis) don't post very often, but I had to mention my night out on Friday. I was invited to a concert of a band that I have been a fan of for a long time, The Aquabats, by a friend of mine, Tyler. It just so happens that Tyler's brother is the MC Bat Commander(follow the above link if you are confused), the lead singer.

Since the band's lyrics are family friendly and since Tyler was bringing his 3-year old daughter, Cricket, to see her uncle, I decided to bring Lexi. So her first rock concert is behind her and she hasn't even reached kindergarten.

So we got to the show a little late, but one of the opening bands was still playing. As we arrived, we saw Tyler's brother and he got us in the back door of the theatre. From there we headed to the green room where we just chatted with the band. I was trying hard not to act like a dorky superfan, but I secretly am.

All the band members were very friendly and fine with having a couple of preschoolers in the green room. Aquabats shows involve many costumes and the band let Lexi and Cricket try some on. Lexi was pretty excited when she found out that the band was going to be on her new favorite show, Yo Gabba Gabba, next week. Tyler's brother is the creator of the show.

For the show, we were able to sit in a balcony above the stage where a band guy was running the video.

The concert was amazing. I had never seen these guys live and you didn't even need to like the music to enjoy the show. Lexi and Cricket were dancing and watching the kids dancing below.

At one point the band fought a "monster" on stage and it took me a minute to realize that Tyler was doing the voice of the monster from right next to me.

Lexi even got involved when the kids started waving their cell phones in a mock lighter display.

After the show we went back to the green room and shared some waters with the band before carting two tired girls back to Princeton.

Party time

It being Jake's birthday week-we decided to throw a party at the Emergency Room at the University Medical Center of Princeton. Austin got hit pretty badly with asthma issues and was not breathing well so off for eight hours of pure fun. After five heavy duty breathing treatments, steroid shot, X-ray showing his pneumonia and the last minute pediatrician saying I've changed my mind we aren't admitting him (whom I could have just hugged her for doing so)...we finally left the car accident teen who was screaming and ripping her fresh cast off over and over. I'll miss her.

We came home to a 104.7 degree Lexi and a really, really clean house (mom-you rock)threw her in the cold tub and watched her temp rise. Party time at the ER again?! No. You thought I would say yes?

I couldn't be more thankful for my mom who saved the day. She was with Lexi all day and even delivered the missionaries food for me. My house is now spotless-the best it has looked in ages. My big sister Cyd came over and helped ReJoyce make dinner whilst I sat looking stoned from my cold meds. It doesn't stop there either. My visiting teachers kept a close eye on us and had many a friends send cheer. Thanks to you all!

Here's to a better Thursday!

Jakey Pot Pie

I hate to be a Debbie Downer but today marks six months since our little guy passed away. I've been saying all along I hate to dwell on dates, but it happens anway.

However horrible the memories of that greusome day being our last memories with him, I'll never forget how his little hand would reach up and he would scratch my face over and over or try to pull off my mask with his pinky finger. His sweet smile when he'd whip his head around when he heard Lexi call out his name. He was a great little brother because he made her feel like the most amazing person he had ever seen. His little eyes would light up when anyone bounced him on his bed, but his love for his apple toy hanging down could never be matched! He would knocked that thing and send it flyin. He gave the best snuggles, just watch out for that G-J tube...she pops right out. My sweet boy loved snuggles.

I hate the 15th and 16th of every month. Thankfully the 17th comes and we keep on going. Cyd and I compromised about going out today instead of into Philly to the Please Touch Museum we are headed to the Wild Animal Kingdom at Six Flags. I'm hoping for a camel to come right up to the window and regurgitate his meal. That's always my favorite.

Thank you all for your continued support and love. It just keeps coming and it's wonderful. Unfortunately, the saddness never lets up either, so thank goodness for loving friends and family, but most of all for the people who got just as wrapped up in his story as I did. We all went through it together. I also thank the good Lord for my life and that I had 5 months and 25 days with Jacob Travis, the cutest little stinker in that whole darn NICU. Those people didn't know what hit them when those good looks rolled through the door.

I just really miss him.

99 Multicolored Balloons

Mason Jar and Jolly Ollie came over for a bit. We had an all out war. I made some regulars and some mammajamma water bombs that they could barely pick up. Those were the doozies.

Tinker the Stinker

My Lex has a new favorite dress up. Too bad I don't have the picture of me wearing it when I was tiny...does that make it vintage?

Keeping Busy

Puzzle the second has now come and gone. I only own two big person puzzles. The Strawberry Shortcake one only takes about 3 minutes. I better hit Target tomorrow.

Catan Prison

"No dear, this is a mommy and daddy game only...no touching" can only be said so many times. That when you pull out the baby gate. Don't you judge us for locking them in...you all are thinking...that's a great idea.

The torch is passed...

Saturday at the Barno's meant some serious Settlers of Catan action. The first game ended with a Phil's first defeat at the hands of Cydney. But we couldn't stop there.

A second game was played (minus Cydney) and I was all set to win my first game. Victory was mine. Then my wife begs me once again to trade with her, assuring me she isn't about to win. I give in, knowing I will win the very next turn. You can all guess what happened next. Jenny uses my largess to snatch the game from me. Treachery aside, congratulations are in order for a well-played game.

Is is bad that I was thinking about Settlers strategy while I was in a meeting this morning?

Potty Mouth

Lexi was picked to come to the front of Primary today as part of a game. She was blindfolded and asked to smell something in a baggie. She thought about it and said, "It smells like someones been tooting."

With that we'd like to start the auction at $5.00...She's got all her shots.

I think I smell....Obsession.

So people go through "phases". I'm in said situation where I must dive into something. Such as cleaning, reading (well listening to books on CD...lazy woman's reading) or "People's Court" (Judge Marilyn Milian gets a yellin and I get a laughin). The newest fad would be diving into puzzles. At 2:30 am this morning, my husband heard, "Travis, I need your help. I can't stop."

Here is the fruits of my labor. #2 1000 piece puzzle will probably be done this evening.

I love phases.

Chef Lexinator

Lexi demonstrates how we cook at our house. This is her rendition of a well loved dessert.

Oh...the bangs. The Easy Bake Oven cake pan with cheese in it. She called it CHEESECAKE.

She cooks like her mother.

Sick and Twisted

I found this used on Jackie's sister-in-law's site. It has really opened my eyes to the honest and brutal truth... I'm a load.
